Our next Zoom culture meet-up is with Japanese wrapping expert Yoshie Kumagai

Just in time for those Christmas presents, learn some fabulous wrapping techniques through our interactive Zoom meeting.

Yoshie Kumagai combines her design skills and knowledge from Japan, to teach furoshiki techniques, gift wrapping and mizuhiki.

Yoshie's business is called musubi, the Japanese word meaning “knot” but it also has another meaning—”connecting two things or people”. The business name reflects her hope to be a point of connection for Japan and Australia, and other countries.

After 20 years of living in Sydney, Yoshie moved back to Japan this year. However, she continues to offer workshops, demonstrations and services from Japan over the internet.

Yoshie will both demonstrate and teach some simple furoshiki techniques, so come prepared to participate.

How to sign up

Sign up as usual using the online form . Your registration will be confirmed and the day before the event a Zoom link will be sent out to registered participants.

The event is suitable for all ages and it is free to attend.

To follow along with the techniques at home, please prepare a bandana or similar square piece of material, a (wine) bottle and a small box (any shape will do, e.g., heart-shape, hexagonal, etc.) .

More events in our Zoom Culture series are scheduled - See Events list
