Welcome to the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney

The advent of US President Trump has already changed the environment for the Australia-Japan relationship.

Japanese PM Shinzo Abe was the first world leader to have discussions with the Presidential nominee. This was followed by the visit of PM Abe to Australia in mid January, as part of a four-country trip intended to boost Japan's trade and security engagements in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Mr. Keizo Takewaka, arrived in Sydney late last year in time for the preparations for PM Abe’s visit. We welcome the Consul-General to speak to us about outcomes from the January visit and the outlook for the Australia-Japan relationship over the next few years.

We hope that AJS members and friends will join us at this opportunity to welcome Mr. Takewaka, the Patron of the Society.
