Australia/Japan Cross-border Inheritance 101

It is more common than ever before for people to have assets in multiple countries, and particularly for AJS members, in Japan and Australia. The differences in the succession laws in these two countries may cause undue stress to your family and friends if you pass away without carefully planning your cross-border estate management.

Our speaker is Dai Ueda, a solicitor at H&H Lawyers (Sydney). He will speak on the basics of succession planning and inheritance procedures in these two countries and share some of his recent experience in Japan-Australia cross-border succession matters.

Speaker bio

Dai Ueda was born in Niigata, Japan. He migrated to Australia and graduated from Macquarie University and then later from the University of New South Wales in law. At H&H Lawyers, he has gained years of experience in a variety of matters – corporate law, employment law, succession law, family law etc. – many of which have Japan/Australia multi-jurisdictional flavours.

Dai’s talk will be followed by a networking reception.

With thanks to H&H Lawyers, this event is free to attend. There is a limit of 30 people.
