What do Japanese business leaders need to know about Australia?

Rurika Imahashi, local correspondent for Nikkei, has the answer and will tell all in an exclusive event for AJS-NSW members and friends on March 13.

Nikkei Asia is the English language weekly publication focusing on Asia and Oceania, of Nikkei (abbreviation of Nihon Keizai Shinbun) Inc., Japan's most important media company. In addition to publishing a daily business newspaper with the world's largest circulation, Nikkei owns The Financial Times (London) and TV Tokyo.

Imahashi-san is not the first woman to head the Nikkei Sydney bureau. Members may remember Kaoru Takahashi, who gave us a talk back in 2016.

Again we will be meeting in the Canva Community Event Space, a short walk from Central Station in Surry Hills.

The talk will be followed by networking over drinks.

Registration is now open. Click to register.

Rurika Imahashi started her journalism career with Nikkei in 2015. She was first assigned to the Commodity News Department to cover global commodity markets such as rare earth, iron, copper, gold, and grains. Later she worked for Nikkei Asia, Nikkei's English publication, reporting for international audiences on hot topics in Japan. Her beats included Japanese retailers, automotive companies, gender issues, and the first-ever postponed Olympic Games in modern history.

She has been a correspondent in Sydney since April 2023, covering Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
